ExxonMobil Hits One Billion Barrel Mark in Guyana
ExxonMobil has reached a major milestone in Guyana's offshore oil industry. The company and its co-venturers have produced over one billion barrels of oil from the Stabroek block, less than seven years after production began at the Liza field in December 2019.
The rapid expansion of Guyana's oil industry has been a defining feature of ExxonMobil's operations. The company made its first major discovery in the Stabroek block in 2015, and since then, it has moved quickly to bring additional developments online.
ExxonMobil currently has four major offshore projects in operation - Liza Phase 1, Liza Phase 2, Payara, and Yellowtail. The startup of Yellowtail in August 2025 brought Guyana's installed production capacity to over 900,000 barrels per day (bpd). ExxonMobil described Yellowtail as the largest Guyana development to date.
ExxonMobil expects Guyana's production capacity to reach about 1.7 million bpd by 2030 if all eight planned developments proceed. The company has identified Longtail as an eighth potential development, although it remains subject to regulatory review.
