ExxonMobil Sees Gas-Driven Growth for Guyana Over Next Decade
ExxonMobil is optimistic about Guyana's economic growth prospects over the next decade. The company plans to continue exploring and appraising discoveries in the Stabroek Block, which will help maintain a pipeline of future oil projects.
Natural gas is expected to play an increasingly important role in Guyana's development, with ExxonMobil seeing it as a key resource for power generation, industrial development, and new onshore investment. The Liza field will supply around 50 million cubic feet per day of gas to an integrated processing facility at Wales, supporting a 300-megawatt power plant.
In the long term, the proposed Berbice gas pipeline could bring significantly larger volumes of gas onshore, creating opportunities for new industries and attracting additional investment. ExxonMobil Guyana President Alistair Routledge highlighted the potential for natural gas to help Guyana create more value from its domestic resources.
