The Minnesota State Fair is known for its eclectic mix of food vendors and unique culinary creations. A group of writers from Axios decided to spend five hours taste-testing some of this year's new offerings, sharing their thoughts on which ones are worth trying and which can be safely skipped.

One of the standout winners was the Hmong Corn Dog from Union Hmong Kitchen, priced at $16. The ginger-and-lemongrass sausage sourced from Kramarczuk's was a hit with reviewers, although they noted that the citrus Kua Txob sauce is actually quite spicy.

Other notable mentions included the Savory Cones from Roon's Savories ($9.50), which featured a well-seasoned chicken salad in a gluten-free waffle cone, and the Ube Cheesecake Wontons from Saturday Dumpling Co. ($10), described as 'by far our favorite sweet bite of the day'.

However, not all new foods were created equal. The Pickle Pie from Lulu's Public House was deemed a disappointment, with one reviewer calling it 'horrifying', while the Surf 'N' Turf Burger from Cafe Caribe ($16) failed to impress due to its bland burger patty and mushy lobster salad.
