Farm Economy Concerns Deepen Amid Surging Diesel Prices
Corn and soybean prices have improved recently, but this has not alleviated financial concerns in farm country. A new survey of 1,200 farmers by the National Corn Growers Association and the American Soybean Association found nearly two-thirds are moderately or very concerned about the farm economy.
Forty-six percent say they are more worried about their own finances than a year ago. High input costs remain a major problem for farmers.
American Farm Bureau Federation economist Dr. Faith Parum said global supply and refining constraints contribute to higher diesel prices, while an export restriction could have unintended consequences.
