Farmers March on JSE Over Soybean Prices Amid Oil Price Decline
Dozens of grain and oilseed farmers marched to the Johannesburg Stock Exchange on August 13, protesting soybean prices. The protest was organized by GrainSA.
The marchers are demanding that the JSE take steps to address what they consider to be unreasonably low prices for soybeans. They argue that these low prices are unsustainable and will have a negative impact on their livelihoods.
The demonstration comes as Brent crude oil fell 2.2% to $87.07 per barrel, while the top 40 index dipped 0.3% to 105,945.
