Fastmarkets has introduced three new price assessments for grain shipments in the Russian Baltic Sea, effective October 12 and 14. This move comes in response to the ongoing escalation in attacks on merchant vessels and port infrastructure in the Black Sea, which has led to a diversion of trade and liquidity. The new assessments include AG-WHE-0061 Wheat 12.5%, AG-WHE-0060 Wheat 11.5%, and FM-FRT-0053 Freight Russian Baltic, Egypt, all priced in dollars per tonne.
According to Fastmarkets' tracked line-up data, wheat exports from Russia’s Black Sea ports have plummeted from 1.6 million tonnes in July to just 213,000 tonnes in September, marking an 86.7% decrease. Conversely, wheat exports from Russia’s Baltic Sea ports surged to 937,000 tonnes in September, up from zero in July. The Baltic Sea’s share of overall Russian wheat exports rose to 74.9% by September, while the Black Sea’s share fell from 94.3% to 17% over the same period.
Fastmarkets has also suspended six Russian and Ukrainian deep-sea port grain and freight price assessments, effective October 12 and 14, 2026. The suspended assessments include AG-WHE-0017 Wheat 11.5% FOB Russia, AG-WHE-0016 Wheat 12.5% FOB Russia, AG-BRY-0002 Barley Feed barley FOB Russia, AG-CRN-0066 Corn CPT Ukraine, FM-FRT-0017 Freight Russia, Egypt, and FM-FRT-0052 Freight Russia, Saudi Arabia. The suspensions are due to the lack of immediately available relevant pricing data.
Fastmarkets is seeking feedback on alternative price references used for pricing in Russia and will continue to monitor the situation in the Russian Black Sea ports. The company will review the feasibility of resuming the suspended price assessments as conditions change. Interested parties are encouraged to contact Fastmarkets for further information or to provide price data.
