Consumer electronics and appliance companies are planning to raise prices on some products ahead of the festive season. Leading manufacturers are set to increase prices by 5-8% from October 1, with air conditioners seeing the sharpest rise of up to 8%. Copper prices have increased significantly, reaching $14,500 per metric tonne, making it a major cost for AC manufacturers.

Blue Star Managing Director B Thiagarajan said commodity prices, including copper, steel, and plastics, have risen due to the ongoing war. Rising demand for copper from electric vehicles and wider electrification is also contributing to the shortage. The US tariffs on copper could further divert supplies towards the US.

Haiier India President NS Satish told PTI that the company plans to increase room air-conditioner prices by around 5% from October 1. Some companies have already increased prices, with Daikin raising prices by 8-10% from September 16.
