Finland's Cereal Exports Level Off Amid Global Trade Shifts

The cereal exports from Finland have reached 450 million kilograms this year, which accounts for only 13% of the country's entire cereal harvest. Oats remain the most significant cereal export, with 347 million kilograms being exported.

However, the decline in oat exports compared to last year is largely due to a lower harvest volume. Wheat exports have actually increased by 65%, reaching over 100 million kilograms this year. Imports of wheat and other cereals are still minimal, with only 12 million kilograms of wheat imported so far.

Johannes Nykänen, Senior Statistician at the Natural Resources Institute Finland, notes that 'wheat imports and exports closely tracked the changes in the global cereal trade, in which the wheat trade rose to record figures.'
