Fischer Pushes Farm Bill with E15 Provision Amid Tight Deadline

Sen. Deb Fischer (R-NE) is urging passage of the Agricultural Act of 2026, also known as the Farm Bill, which includes permanent year-round E15.

Fischer stated that E15 would create a consistent market and allow farmers, ethanol plants, and fuel stations to operate with confidence. She emphasized that this is not a government mandate but rather gives fuel retailers the choice to sell E15 at their gas station and consumers the option to fill up with it.

The Environmental Protection Agency has confirmed that E15 is safe in cars made in 2001 or later, according to Fischer. She noted that securing year-round E15 would strengthen domestic demand for corn and ethanol by expanding domestic fuel options using American-grown corn.

With Congress yet to pass a full farm bill since 2018 and time running out before the end of this year, Senate Agriculture Committee Chairman John Boozman is reportedly trying to reach an agreement with Democrats and House leaders over the October recess.
