Florida Gas Prices Drop 34 Cents in Nine Days
Florida drivers are experiencing some relief at the gas pump after a sharp increase in prices last month. The state average dropped 34 cents per gallon over the past nine days, bringing the cost to $4.08 on Sunday. This is the lowest average in nearly four weeks, saving drivers between $5 and $7 per full tank compared to prices from just over a week ago.
The decline in gas prices follows a nearly 10% drop in oil prices over the past two weeks. The G7's decision to release 100 million barrels from emergency reserves, along with improved oil exports from the Middle East, helped ease supply concerns. As a result, crude oil prices fell from above $100 per barrel in mid-September to $91.11 on Friday.
Sunday's average gas price in Florida is 29 cents lower than a week ago but still 13 cents higher than a month ago and $1.03 more than last year. The most expensive metro markets in Florida include West Palm Beach-Boca Raton ($4.28), Gainesville ($4.23), and Fort Lauderdale ($4.18). The least expensive markets are Pensacola ($3.92), Panama City ($3.93), and Crestview-Fort Walton Beach ($3.95).
