Florida Gas Prices Drop 34 Cents in Nine Days
Florida drivers are experiencing some welcome relief at the gas pump, as prices have dropped significantly over the past nine days. According to AAA, the statewide average fell by 34 cents per gallon, reaching $4.08 on Sunday. This marks the lowest price in nearly a month, though it remains 13 cents higher than a month ago and $1.03 more expensive than the same time last year.
The decline in gas prices is saving drivers approximately $5 to $7 per full tank compared to prices from just over a week ago. The drop is attributed to a nearly 10% decrease in crude oil prices over the past two weeks, as global fuel supply concerns have eased. Crude oil prices have fallen from over $100 per barrel in mid-September to $91.11 on Friday.
Regional variations in gas prices were noted, with West Palm Beach-Boca Raton recording the highest average at $4.28 per gallon. Gainesville followed at $4.23, and Fort Lauderdale averaged $4.18. The lowest averages were reported in Pensacola at $3.92 per gallon, Panama City at $3.93, and Crestview-Fort Walton Beach at $3.95.
AAA suggests that drivers can further save on gas by comparing local prices through the AAA mobile app, combining errands, checking tire pressure, avoiding aggressive driving, and considering fuel rewards programs.
