Florida Gas Prices Soar Above $4 a Gallon as Oil Prices Surge
Florida drivers are facing higher gas prices as the state average has risen above $4 per gallon for the first time since June 1, 2026. According to AAA - The Auto Club Group, rising oil prices are behind the increase, with tensions in the Middle East causing a surge in crude oil prices. Mark Jenkins, spokesman for AAA, said that 'Tensions in the Middle East intensified last week, causing oil prices to surge and increasing the cost of producing gasoline.'
The U.S. price for crude oil has increased nearly 20% over the past two weeks, climbing from $83 per barrel to more than $100 per barrel. This has pushed the state average above $4 per gallon, with some metro markets already exceeding this mark. West Palm Beach-Boca Raton is currently the most expensive, at $4.30 per gallon.
Jenkins warned that if oil prices remain elevated, motorists could face additional upward pressure on gas prices this week. To mitigate the impact of higher gas prices, drivers are advised to combine errands, drive conservatively, and remove excess weight from their vehicles.
