Florida Gas Prices Surge Above $4 Again, Diesel Hits Record $6

Rising tensions in the Middle East have pushed gas prices above $4 again in Palm Coast and Florida, while diesel has surpassed $6 for the first time ever. According to AAA, an average gallon of gas in Florida increased by 23 cents over the past week, reaching $4.14 on Monday. Diesel prices also surged, surpassing the national average at $6.31 on Monday, 63 cents higher than a week earlier.

Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, noted that since March 1, Americans have collectively spent more than $100 billion more on gas and diesel than in the same period a year earlier. As oil prices remain elevated, motorists could face additional upward pressure on gas prices this week.

In Palm Coast and Flagler County, gas stations were uniformly above $4, with prices ranging from $4.11 to $4.29 as of Wednesday evening. Only seven counties in Florida have an average under $4, all located in the Panhandle. In contrast, Monroe County in South Florida had a $4.35 average on Monday.
