FortisBC Energy Inc., a regulated utility in British Columbia, has announced that its customers will see no change to their gas rates for the remainder of 2026. The company's cost of gas rate remains at $1.660 per gigajoule (GJ) as of October 1, following approval from the British Columbia Utilities Commission (BCUC).

FortisBC customers who are subscribed to the voluntary designated Renewable Natural Gas program will also see no change in their rates, remaining at $8.66 per GJ. According to Sarah Nelson, director of customer service, 'We understand that energy costs are important for our customers' budgets and this news will help provide some certainty for the families and businesses we serve.'

FortisBC acquires gas at market-based prices, which can be affected by factors such as supply and demand, weather, and economic conditions. The company does not mark up the cost of gas, so its customers pay what it pays.
