FortisBC Keeps Gas Rates Steady Through End of 2026
FortisBC Energy Inc. has announced that it will not be increasing its gas rates for customers in British Columbia, Canada. The company's request to maintain current rates was approved by the British Columbia Utilities Commission (BCUC) on October 1. FortisBC customers will continue to pay $1.660 per gigajoule (GJ) of natural gas, with no changes expected for the remainder of 2026.
The company explained that it acquires gas at market-based prices and does not mark up costs for its customers. The BCUC reviews FortisBC's rates every three months, and the next review is scheduled for December.
FortisBC Director of Customer Service Sarah Nelson stated, 'We understand that energy costs are important for our customers' budgets and this news will help provide some certainty for the families and businesses we serve.'
