France Belgium lead European Russian LNG imports in 2026
France and Belgium emerged as the top European importers of Russian liquefied natural gas (LNG) in the first nine months of 2026. According to data from energy analytics firm Kpler, reported by Kommersant, France imported 4.7 million metric tons of Russian LNG, while Belgium brought in 2.9 million tons during this period.
The Netherlands ranked third with 1.25 million tons, followed by Spain. Notably, Spanish imports of Russian LNG surged by 46% since the start of the year, the fastest growth among the four largest European buyers of Russian LNG.
