The strategic oil port of Yanbu in Saudi Arabia is facing a growing threat from Houthi rebels, prompting France to send troops and equipment to defend it.

A joint ministerial meeting between the Gulf Cooperation Council and France on September 23 discussed the rising tensions in the Red Sea, where Iranian-backed Houthis have been targeting vital installations since February 28.

Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al-Saud, Saudi Arabia's foreign minister, emphasized the need for international cooperation to address the threat posed by the Houthi rebels, who are also attacking global shipping routes in the Red Sea.

In an interview with Fox News, Prince Faisal said that while Saudi Arabia is defending itself against the attacks, it needs the support of its international allies to protect strategic infrastructure like the Yanbu oil port.
