France Deploys Troops to Protect Saudi Oil Terminal
French President Emmanuel Macron has announced that France will send soldiers, radars, and defense systems to protect Saudi Arabia's Yanbu oil terminal from Houthi attacks. The deployment comes after Saudi forces intercepted six ballistic missiles aimed at Taif and Yanbu, thwarting potential attacks on the port.
Yanbu is a crucial export terminal for Saudi Arabia, with millions of barrels of oil passing through it each day. Macron stated that French troops will not engage in combat but will provide protection for the site.
The move comes as part of the Saudi-led coalition's efforts to counter Houthi attacks on key infrastructure in the region. The Houthis have claimed responsibility for several recent attacks, including a drone strike on Mecca and an attack on Riyadh.
