French Diesel Prices Soar Amid Ongoing Middle East Conflict
Diesel prices in France have reached a new record high due to global oil supply disruptions caused by the ongoing war in the Middle East. The conflict, which began in February with US and Israeli forces targeting Iran, has led to increased fuel costs worldwide.
According to an analysis by Agence France-Presse (AFP), the average price of a litre of diesel reached 2.41 euros ($2.76) on Sunday, surpassing the previous record set just hours earlier. This is amid renewed conflict in Yemen and attacks on energy infrastructure in Saudi Arabia.
The price of unleaded 95-octane petrol also exceeded its 2022 peak, averaging above 2.17 euros per litre at over 6,700 filling stations. The average price of a litre of unleaded 98-octane petrol was above 2.28 euros on Sunday.
