The FTSE 100 index is set to jump on Friday morning according to futures from investment platform IG. Oil prices have rebounded, rising by about 1.5 per cent to $90 after days of losses earlier in the week.

Investors are reacting to conflicting signals over whether oil supplies will improve. Iran's military has announced a revenue-sharing agreement with Oman over the vital trade route, but Tehran insists that the deal does not mean the immediate reopening of the strait.

The White House has stated that no negotiations are taking place between the US and Iran. In a separate development, Nvidia more-than-doubled its sales in the US, sending tech stocks soaring.
