Fuel Price Relief Expected Despite Oil Spike
South African motorists are still on track for lower fuel prices in August, despite recent increases in global oil prices pushing Brent crude back to around $85 a barrel.
The Central Energy Fund (CEF) has released mid-month data indicating that petrol prices will decrease when the next monthly fuel price adjustment takes effect on 5 August 2026.
According to the projections, inland 93 Petrol is expected to decrease by R1.30 per litre, while inland Diesel 0.05% is expected to decrease by R0.47 per litre.
The stronger rand has continued to provide support, trading around the R16.30 to R16.40 range against the US dollar, which is offsetting some of the pressure created by higher international oil prices.
