Fuel Prices Soar as Global Tensions Escalate
Gas and diesel prices have reached record highs in all 50 US states. The national average price for diesel is $6.23 per gallon, while Oregon's average price has surpassed $6.67 per gallon.
The surge in fuel prices can be attributed to a combination of factors, including new attacks on energy infrastructure in Saudi Arabia and disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz.
Crude oil prices have also risen above $100 per barrel, driven by concerns over global supply and demand. The conflict between Russia and Ukraine is putting additional pressure on crude prices.
The AAA Oregon/Idaho public affairs director, Marie Dodds, notes that drivers typically see relief at the pumps this time of year as summer travel tapers off and stations switch to less expensive winter-blend fuel.
