Fuel Prices Soar in Iowa Amid Crude Oil Downturn

Iowa gasoline prices rose sharply this week, increasing by 23 cents to an average of $4.34 per gallon for regular unleaded fuel.

This is according to AAA's weekly fuel report released on September 23, which shows that the current statewide average is $1.42 higher than it was a year ago.

The national average for regular unleaded gasoline also rose, up by 38 cents from last week to $4.74 per gallon.

In contrast, Iowa diesel prices increased more modestly, rising by 16 cents to an average of $6.28 per gallon, which is currently 24 cents below the national average.
