G7 Considers Emergency Oil Release Amid Saudi Pipeline Attacks
The Group of Seven (G7) is preparing to meet in the coming weeks to discuss releasing more oil from emergency stockpiles due to ongoing supply concerns. French President Emmanuel Macron announced that the meeting would focus on energy issues, including reviewing emergency stock levels and production capacity.
The decision comes after Saudi Arabia's state-owned Aramco canceled late-September crude cargoes to several European refiners following attacks on the 1,200 km East-West Pipeline.
Macron stated that the meeting would consider options for potential releases from strategic reserves. US Energy Secretary Chris Wright also hinted at a possible release from the US Strategic Petroleum Reserve, citing market signals indicating the need for more oil.
