G7 Nations Agree to Release Diesel Reserves Amid Global Price Crisis
The Group of 7 nations has agreed to release 100 million barrels of diesel and crude oil from their strategic stockpiles over four months, equivalent to one day's worth of global oil demand.
This decision comes after President Donald Trump threatened to impose a ban on the export of U.S. diesel fuel, which would have had severe consequences for Europe, where 1.5 million barrels of diesel are imported daily, with a third coming from the United States.
The release will be coordinated by the International Energy Agency and aims to stabilize energy supplies and curb price spikes driven by military strikes on energy infrastructure in the Middle East and Russia.
