G7 Oil Release Fails to Alleviate Global Energy Crisis
The International Energy Agency (IEA) has ample emergency reserves to fall back on if the G7's coordinated release of 100 million barrels of oil and diesel fails to calm markets, according to IEA chief Fatih Birol.
Birol stated that while the release is an important measure, the lasting solution to the energy crisis triggered by the Iran war is reopening the Strait of Hormuz.
The G7 agreed to release 100 million barrels over four months, with a front-loaded diesel release within the first 20 days. Birol thanked the leaders for their trust and emphasized the agency's readiness to provide support.
