G7 Unleashes 100 Million Barrels in Emergency Diesel Release
The G7 and its partners have agreed to release up to 100 million barrels of emergency diesel and crude stocks over the next four months. This move aims to counter a severe diesel crisis that has been plaguing the market for months.
The release will be coordinated through the International Energy Agency, with an emphasis on diesel. European countries had discussed releasing 50 million barrels of diesel while IEA members would supply another 50 million barrels of crude.
French President Emmanuel Macron and US President Donald Trump welcomed the move. Trump praised the agreement in a statement, saying that 'Europe has just agreed to release a massive amount of their heavily stocked Diesel Oil.'
The market reacted immediately to the news, with European gasoil futures falling more than 4% and Brent crude oil prices dropping about $3 to below $100 per barrel.
