Gas Prices Continue Upward Trend Amid Ongoing Global Tensions
The average price of gasoline in Los Angeles County has seen its third consecutive increase, rising by half a cent to $5.653 per gallon. This surge follows two-tenths of a cent hike on Thursday and is part of a larger trend that has seen prices rise 1.1 cents over the past three days.
The Orange County average price also rose for the third consecutive day, increasing four-tenths of a cent to $5.596 per gallon. The price increase in both counties can be attributed to the ongoing uncertainty along the Strait of Hormuz and the conflict in the Middle East, which has pushed crude oil prices towards the $90 per barrel range.
Kandace Redd, senior public affairs specialist at the Automobile Club of Southern California, noted that gas prices remain volatile. As a result, motorists are advised to continue looking for ways to stretch their fuel dollars by keeping tires properly inflated, avoiding excessive idling, and combining errands to reduce fuel consumption.
