Iowa Agriculture Secretary Mike Naig believes there are opportunities for Iowa to expand its agricultural trade with the Philippines. He notes that the Philippines has a growing economy and population, which creates demand for various products.

Naig says that Iowa can supply corn, soybean, and livestock products, as well as provide technology and expertise to help the country address supply gaps. In 2023, Naig led a trade mission to Vietnam and the Philippines to encourage trade development and identify opportunities to expand export markets.

According to Naig, 'there's really a range of opportunities' for agricultural trade between Iowa and the Philippines. He emphasizes that trade should be mutually beneficial and notes that Iowa is exploring options to meet the Philippines' requirements while supporting its self-sufficiency agenda.
