Gas Prices Drop in Natrona County Amid Broader Decline
Gas prices in Natrona County, Wyoming, dropped by about 3 cents over the past week, bringing the average to $4.18 per gallon as of Monday. This decline aligns with broader trends, as Wyoming’s statewide average fell by 4 cents to $4.45 per gallon, while the national average dropped by 9 cents to $4.36 per gallon, according to AAA data. GasBuddy, which tracks individual driver reports, placed the national average at $4.30 per gallon after a 12.5-cent decrease over the week.
The current national average for gasoline remains 19.3 cents higher than a month ago and $1.22 higher than the same period last year. Diesel prices also saw a significant decline, with the national average falling 14.2 cents to $6.30 per gallon. In Natrona County, the cheapest fuel is available at Sam’s Club on East 2nd Street for $4.10 per gallon, with Maverik, Big D, Sinclair, and Loaf ‘N Jug offering prices as low as $4.13 per gallon.
Laramie County now has the lowest average fuel price in Wyoming at $4.11, down 15 cents from last week. Campbell County follows closely with an average of $4.14, down 7 cents, while Crook County’s average stands at $4.149. Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, noted that average gasoline and diesel prices fell in 48 states, providing relief to motorists across much of the country.
De Haan attributed the declines to tax cuts and price patterns, particularly in states like Georgia and Ohio, where recent fuel tax cuts amplified the drop. However, he cautioned that some price-cycling markets may face an upward swing in gas prices in the coming days. Crude oil prices opened the week mixed, with West Texas Intermediate crude dropping 91 cents to $90.20 per barrel, while Brent crude rose 22 cents to $102.47 per barrel.
