Gas Prices Hit Historic Highs Amid Ongoing Conflict

Gas prices have reached historic highs for mid-August, according to AAA. Lexington drivers are paying an average of $3.78 per gallon, while the national average is at $4.07. This is a significant increase from last year's price of $3.15 per gallon.

The main driver behind these elevated prices is the ongoing conflict in Iran, which has disrupted global oil supplies. As a result, crude oil prices have remained around $80 a barrel, with forecasts predicting a drop in demand that could lead to lower prices.

However, diesel prices are not expected to be affected in the same way, as they are more closely tied to specific uses such as trucking and construction. AAA recommends regular car maintenance, proper tire pressure, and gradual acceleration to get the most out of every gallon.
