Gas Prices Slip 7 Cents but Remain at Record High
Following a record-breaking average price per gallon in September, gasoline prices have decreased by 7 cents over the past week. According to AAA Arizona, the current average price for gas is $4.80 a gallon, still higher than it was at this time last year and a month ago.
While crude oil prices have dipped back into the $90 per barrel range, pulling down the national average, overall gas prices remain the highest they've ever been for this time of year. David Caltabiano, spokesperson for AAA Mountain West Group, stated that 'crude oil prices have dipped back into the $90 per barrel range pulling the national average down, overall gas prices remain the highest they’ve ever been for this time of the year.'
Gas prices are currently 99 cents higher than a year ago and 16 cents higher than a month ago. The decrease in crude oil prices has had some effect on lowering gas prices, but it appears that overall gas prices are still holding strong.
