Gas Prices Soar as Georgia's Gas Tax Holiday Ends
Georgia's gas tax holiday has come to an end on June 3, and drivers in metro Atlanta are bracing for higher prices at the pump. The state suspended its gas tax for 60 days starting March 20, but Governor Brian Kemp extended it through June 3.
The war with Iran has been a major contributor to the surge in crude oil prices, making it one of the most expensive times to fill up since the start of the conflict at the end of February. As a result, motorists can expect to pay more for gas during the summer driving season.
According to AAA, the United States is not as reliant on Middle Eastern oil as it once was, but the Persian Gulf region remains a significant producer of crude oil globally. The conflict in the region has disrupted global oil supplies and driven up prices at the pump.
