Gastech 2026 has seen significant energy agreements and investment plans announced during its first three days, totaling an estimated US$40 billion. This reflects the event's role as a forum for negotiations and partnerships across the energy value chain.

One major agreement is between China Gas Holdings and Venture Global LNG, which signed a 20-year deal to purchase 500,000 tonnes of liquefied natural gas annually from the United States, starting in 2030. This aims to strengthen LNG supply security for one of the world's largest energy markets.

The business cost of methane losses was also discussed during Gastech 2026. Adeleye Falade, managing director and chief executive of Nigeria LNG, said the industry needs to rethink how it views methane, as every tonne lost represents not only wasted energy but also lost commercial value.
