Gulf countries and the Muslim World League have condemned drone attacks targeting Saudi Arabia, which authorities said were launched by Iranian-backed militias in Iraq.

The drones were intercepted before reaching their targets after attempts to strike oil facilities in the Eastern Province and sites in the Riyadh region.

Jasem Al-Budaiwi, Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, described the attacks as a 'dangerous escalation' that represented a flagrant violation of international law.

Kuwait's Foreign Ministry reiterated its full support for Saudi Arabia, saying the Kingdom's security is inseparable from Kuwait and the wider GCC.
