Geopolitical Risks Keep Brent Crude Prices Elevated
Commerzbank analysts warn that Brent crude prices are unlikely to drop due to persistent geopolitical risks. According to the bank, tensions in key oil-producing regions continue to provide a floor under prices, even as economic headwinds weigh on consumption.
The market is closely watching for any escalation of conflicts or supply disruptions, which could tighten supply further and push prices higher. OPEC+ has spare capacity, but actual production increases have been gradual, leaving little room for a rapid response if disruptions intensify.
Commerzbank notes that the risk premium embedded in Brent prices has not fully dissipated, despite occasional dips. The bank attributes this to ongoing conflicts and supply disruptions in the Middle East and Eastern Europe, which have repeatedly disrupted shipping routes and threatened production infrastructure.
