Georgia Gas Prices Drop as Oil Prices Fall
Gas prices are easing in Georgia as oil prices have fallen due to concerns about potential global supply disruptions easing, according to AAA. The average gas price in the state is currently $3.87 per gallon, a decline of five cents from last week and still 96 cents higher than last year. For those filling up a standard 15-gallon tank of regular gasoline, the cost is approximately $58.05.
While drivers are starting to see lower prices at the pump, Montrae Waiters, spokeswoman for AAA, The Auto Club Group, advises that global events can quickly impact oil and gas prices. Uncertainty surrounding the Middle East remains a factor to watch, which could put upward pressure on crude oil prices.
The national average for a gallon of regular gasoline fell to $4.09 this week, but pump prices remain nearly a dollar higher than a year ago. In Georgia, the most expensive metro markets are Atlanta ($3.91), Macon ($3.90), and Hinesville-Fort Stewart ($3.86), while the least expensive are Albany ($3.75), Dalton ($3.72), and Catoosa-Dade-Walker ($3.70).
