Germany Activates Stade LNG Terminal as Energy Supply Security Boost
Germany is preparing to activate its Stade LNG terminal, which will inject liquefied natural gas into the German grid starting in November. The Energos Force vessel, a floating storage and regasification unit built in 2021, has begun technical testing in Stade.
The vessel features a 47-meter beam and a deadweight of 94,361 metric tons. It will allow for the regasification of up to 500 million standard cubic feet per day during winter using closed-loop steam boilers, reaching 750 million cubic feet in summer with water from the Elbe River.
By 2027, technical projections establish that the terminal will reach an injection capacity of up to 3.2 billion cubic meters per year. This maximum output flow would provide heating for approximately 2.6 million four-person households under ideal conditions.
