Germany's Stade LNG Terminal Nears Operation with Arrival of Energos Force FSRU

A floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) called Energos Force has arrived at the Stade LNG terminal in Germany, marking a major milestone for the country's energy security. The FSRU measures 294 meters in length and is 47 meters wide, with a deadweight tonnage of 94,361 metric tons.

Chartered by Deutsche Energy Terminal, the operator of the terminal, the Energos Force was built in 2021. According to Peter Rottgen, chief executive of Deutsche Energy Terminal, the arrival of the FSRU marks the start of commissioning preparations and sets the stage for the terminal to begin feeding gas into the grid from November.

The Stade terminal is expected to feed up to 3.2 billion cubic meters of natural gas into the German grid by 2027, sufficient to supply around 2.6 million four-person households with heating energy for a full year. The FSRU can regasify up to 500 million standard cubic feet of gas per day during winter and up to 750 million in summer.
