Global Energy Crisis Spreads to Gas and Coal Prices, Hits High-Usage Households
The global energy crisis is now affecting natural gas and coal prices as the 'lagging effect' of supply disruptions spreads. The impact, which has been concentrated on the petrol market since last March, is beginning to show up in electricity generation costs for consumers with high usage.
Economy Minister Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir said that households whose monthly electricity consumption exceeds 600 kilowatt-hours (kWh) are being directly affected by the increasing costs. The minister did not provide further details on the expected impact of these price changes.
