Global Energy Dialogue Shifts Towards Pragmatism at Gastech 2026

The global energy conversation is shifting towards pragmatism as industry professionals gather in Bangkok for Gastech 2026. The event brings together around 50,000 energy professionals and 1,000 exhibiting companies from over 150 countries to discuss pressing issues such as energy security, affordability, supply diversification, and investment.

Former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair emphasized the importance of diversified energy supplies in meeting increasing electricity requirements, including those associated with artificial intelligence. Valérie Ducrot, Executive Director of the Global Gas Centre, highlighted the need for a pragmatic approach to reconciling four priorities: energy security, affordability, economic growth, and climate objectives.

The conversation is no longer centered on which source of energy will prevail but rather how to deliver more energy reliably and affordably while building a sustainable energy system. Natural gas and LNG remain essential to reliable and diversified energy supplies as countries pursue greater resilience and economic development.
