Global Inflation Concerns Rise as Oil Prices Climb Above Ksh12,600
The Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) has reported continued global inflation concerns due to high energy prices. Murban crude oil prices rose above Ksh12,600 per barrel during the week ending Thursday, September 24, 2026.
CBK stated that inflationary pressures remained a concern in major global economies, with South Africa recording an increase in headline inflation in August.
The South African Reserve Bank subsequently raised its policy rate by 25 basis points to 3.75 per cent at its September 23 meeting due to high energy prices.
