Global Markets Mixed as Oil Prices Stabilize Amid US-Iran Uncertainty
Global stock markets were mixed on Tuesday following losses on Wall Street, while US Treasury yields paused their rise after reaching their highest level in roughly two decades.
The uncertainty surrounding US-Iran talks and the possible reopening of the Strait of Hormuz contributed to the stability in oil prices. Brent crude, the international standard, fell 0.3% to $97.55 a barrel.
In early European trading, Britain's FTSE 100 rose 0.3% to 10,721.04, while Japan's Nikkei 225 lost 0.6% to 65,481.27.
Australia's S&P/ASX 200 edged up 0.3% to 8,709.30 after its central bank lifted the benchmark rate for the fourth time this year, taking it to the highest level in 15 years.
