Global Meat and Grain Markets See Shifts in Supply and Demand
The USDA has forecasted that Canadian pork imports will decline by 5% in 2027, reaching 210,000 tonnes carcase weight equivalent.
In contrast, the Philippines is expecting a significant increase in chicken meat production, consumption, and imports. According to the USDA, chicken meat production is expected to grow by 5.8% in 2027 to 1.920m tonnes, while consumption will rise by 8.6% to 2.7m tonnes. Importantly, imports are projected to increase by 14.7% to 780,000 tonnes.
The Australian cattle market has seen a significant shift, with Meat and Livestock Australia reporting that 79% of the country's live cattle exports went to Indonesia in the first seven months of 2026.
The ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia has had a profound impact on wheat exports. The Kyiv Post reports that combined Ukraine and Russian wheat exports have fallen by 8m tonnes, half last year's volume, between July and September this year.
