Nearly half of the world's oil supply comes from countries affected by conflict. The current supply disruptions have surpassed previous energy crises, according to Reuters.

Based on 2025 production levels, conflict-affected countries produced around 45 million barrels of oil per day in 2026, which is equivalent to more than 43% of global oil supply.

The Russia-Ukraine war has forced cuts to oil production and refining. Other affected countries include Iran, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Libya, and Venezuela, whose oil exports have been impacted by US restrictions.
