Global Stocks Soar as Oil Prices Recede
The global stock market has seen a boost on Monday as oil prices and bond yields recede from their recent highs. The S&P 500 rose by 0.6% to pull back within 1.3% of its all-time high, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 224 points or 0.4%. The Nasdaq composite also increased by 0.8%. Brent oil prices fell 3.1% to $100.62, down from nearly $110 last week but still above its roughly $72 price earlier this summer.
The decrease in oil prices has alleviated some pressure on the bond market, with the yield on the 10-year Treasury easing to 4.96%. Higher yields can slow economic growth by making borrowing more expensive for both governments and households. However, experts remain cautious about global oil availability, citing ongoing conflicts in the Middle East.
