Crude oil futures surged on Wednesday, driven by positive global trends. On the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude oil futures for September delivery rose by Rs 189 to Rs 8,923 per barrel in a business turnover of 5,969 lots.

The increase was largely due to higher bets by participants, analysts said. Globally, West Texas Intermediate crude was trading at USD 93.94 per barrel, up 0.98 per cent, while Brent crude was up 1.13 per cent at USD 98.03 per barrel in New York.

As a result of the global price increases, crude oil prices rose by Rs 189 to Rs 8,923 per barrel in the futures trade on Wednesday. This trend reflects the upward momentum in global crude markets.
