Global Wheat Crisis Looms as Grain Elevator Attacks Escalate
Russian military volunteer Alexey Zhivov warns that ongoing attacks on grain elevators and continued escalation in the Black Sea could trigger a global wheat crisis. He believes strikes on ports and warehouses could escalate into attacks on grain elevators, potentially leading to wheat shortages and higher prices worldwide.
According to Zhivov, further escalation in the Black Sea and mutual strikes on civilian vessels carrying grain could lead to wheat shortages on the global market and higher prices. If both sides also begin destroying each other's grain elevators, the consequences could be catastrophic, potentially causing a 'global wheat collapse.'
Zhivov notes that Russia would likely be affected by such a crisis to a lesser extent due to its vast territory, extensive areas of arable land, and significant increases in agricultural yields and labor productivity in recent years. In contrast, Ukraine's position under this scenario would be far more dire.
