Gold and Silver Prices Fall in Pakistan Amid US-Iran Tensions
Gold and silver prices in Pakistan have taken a sharp dip as global markets opened today, driven by escalating tensions between the US and Iran. The stalled negotiations between the two nations have introduced significant volatility in precious metals. President Trump's demand for historical conflict compensation from Tehran has effectively frozen ongoing peace talks, eliminating any immediate prospects of reopening the Strait of Hormuz.
The resulting deadlock has triggered a spike in global oil prices, fueling fresh inflation fears. Anxious investors are turning to gold and silver as safe-haven assets, a move that has pushed local prices higher in Pakistan. The Sarafa markets in the country are constantly adjusting prices to absorb these macroeconomic shocks.
As of today, the price of 24K gold in Pakistan stands at Rs. 430,669.33 per tola, Rs. 369,356.20 per 10 grams, and Rs. 36,935.62 per gram. Silver is priced at Rs. 6,359.19 per tola, Rs. 5,453.85 per 10 grams, and Rs. 545.385 per gram. Internationally, spot gold is trading at $4,153.49 per troy ounce, while spot silver is at $61.45 per troy ounce.
