Gold and Silver Prices Soar in India as August 5 Sees New Highs

The price of gold and silver has increased on August 5 in India. According to the India Bullion and Jewellers Association (IBJA), one kilogram of silver now costs ₹2.25 lakh, up from ₹5,927 per kg compared to the previous day. Meanwhile, 10 grams of 24-carat gold have seen a price increase of ₹2,760 to reach ₹1.46 lakh.

This marks an upward trend for gold this year, with prices rising by ₹13,000 since the beginning of 2026. On December 31, 2025, 10 grams of gold were trading at ₹1.33 lakh, a figure that has now risen to ₹1.46 lakh.

Commodity expert Ajay Kedia predicts that gold prices may reach ₹1.60 lakh by the end of the year and silver could hit ₹2.80 lakh, although he cautions against making lump sum investments in either asset.
